COVER LETTER
I have always enjoyed creating art since i was a little girl and have pursued it throughout my education. Art has been a major part of my life especially painting which I was already fond of when growing up and i have developed my skills in that area over the years. I want to pursue a career in which I will be able to transfer my art skills to other people of all ages through my interpretation of art.
One unit which I particularly enjoyed during my first year of college was called ‘Dystopia’. This project involved creating a canvas piece of a overcrowded and miserable place; this involved using using primary research in order to create a collage on paper such as taking my own photos of buildings and editing them to then transfer this idea onto the canvas which involved me in using multiple painting techniques and working with different layers in order to achieve the themed outcome of my work. The positive reaction of my classmates to my piece of work has confirmed that i am confident and able to carry out my ideas and put them into reality via painting which is probably one of my favourite artistic techniques.
another unit which I found surprisingly enjoyable was in the animation class. This unit was called ‘sculpt villain’ where I had to learn and use a software called Mudbox. I found this to be surprisingly enjoyable considering that throughout my whole life I had only created art with pencils, pens and paint brushes onto paper and canvas, however thanks to this unit I have developed a second passion and now have a different understanding of how to create art.
Monoprinting is a method that I love. I practiced it in a session in class to create a final piece. This involved using printing ink and pens pencils rubbers or the end of a brush or your finger. Anything that could rub and make a mark. This method was very fun and i advise anyone to give it a go. I created 5 final outcomes of all sizes with this method.
Currently outside of college I have sold my won art would that has been commissioned and I will continue to make art work in my free time and make a website to sell it on. Also I have visited numerous of galleries in London for research and taste development and research to keep up to date with modern art.
I believe this apprenticeship will take give me the guidance and skills to run my own art classes and be able to teach other people the skills I learnt and help them follow their passion.

Dream job
My dream job is to be a stay at home mum/ house wife who is a freelance artist specialising in 2D design on the side. It's something I have always had a passion for to have children and create art at the same time. Not sit in an office all day. I'd like to be my own boss.
I can start by building up a website of my own, I already have a wix website account which I have learnt to use through college so I have a knowledge and understanding of how to get myself and my products out their in the future.
I must be open minded and creative to work with clients if I have commission work. I must be able to handle everything myself as I would be working for myself. This includes going to meetings and handling times and money and creating work to deadlines if needed.
it is generally assumed that a degree in design, digital art or visual art is required in order to be successful. And I have read up about students form university taking a short course in business studies so they have a knowledge of the marketing strategy.
